Studies show that most self-storage burglaries are the result of an “inside job” by criminals masquerading as customers. That being said, you can never be too cautions and you should never share with others a list of items you’ve packed away, and do not freely disclose the location of your storage unit.
The other message here is: Do not store any illegal items (such as drugs). You’d be inviting a break-in and such storage is, of course, against the law.
