If you’re moving to Salem, you probably already know about the town’s rich history. The infamous Salem witch trials still remain a topic of fascination for many historians, bringing in countless tourists every year, especially during the Halloween season. If you’ve seen the movie Hocus Pocus, you’ve already gotten a glimpse of the town’s famous streets. Plus, Salem is close to the beautiful North Shore beaches, making it a fun place to live all year round! Below are some local attractions:
This historic house museum is located at 310 Essex St and was once the home of Judge Jonathon Corwin, who was in charge of the Salem witch trials of 1692. Check out the witch house and go on either a self-guided or group tour!
Take a break from the town’s witchcraft history and spend the day breathing in the fresh air at Breakheart Reservation. There are tons of opportunities for self-guided adventures like hiking the scenic trails and swimming in Pearce Lake. There are also spots for camping, picnicking, and grilling!
Located off the coast of Salem are the famous “Misery Islands.” In the 1620s, a shipbuilder was stranded for three days and called his time there “three miserable days,” giving them their name. The islands consist of Big Misery (83 acres) and Little Misery (4 acres), which are now popular travel sites for tourists, as they offer spectacular views of the North Shore and Salem Sound.
Whether your home is a fixer-upper or fully new and furnished, you’re still going to want to put your own spin on it to make it yours. Check out some of these local home improvement stores!
