Life can sometimes be complicated and unpredictable. Having to move during the holidays is not ideal, but if you plan it right, you’ll be able to get it done easily and without too much added stress.
Here are our tips for how to jingle all the way to your new home during the holidays:
Make a List and Check it Twice
Take a page out of Santa’s book and organize everything in your move. Organize all your forms, receipts, and important paperwork in one place and label all your moving boxes by where you want them to end up in your new home. If you’re staying in a hotel between moves, make sure you have all of your important items (like medicine) in your overnight bag in case of unforeseen circumstances.
Keep the Holiday Spirit Alive
Keeping the holiday spirit alive requires a good amount of preparation ahead of time. If you’re literally celebrating while you’re in transit or on the road, do some research ahead of time and find places near your hotel (or wherever you might be staying) that have holiday celebrations so you still get to experience the season. Take a day to enjoy the holidays, and try to make it special!
Moving Boxes Don’t Count as Presents
Opening moving boxes is exciting, but not as exciting as opening real presents! Especially if you have young children, ensure that you still enjoy the actual magic of Christmas. Even if it’s something small, you can help ease the stress of moving by giving little gifts and rewarding your loved ones (and yourself!) for all of their hard work.
Don’t be a Grinch!
Moving is stressful, but try to keep a positive attitude! Remember, this is just temporary!
Bring a Little Christmas with You
If you’ll be on the road or staying in a hotel over the holiday, pack a few trinkets and decorations so that you can still be festive and enjoy a little of the holiday atmosphere.
