Organizing and packing for a move is usually a time-consuming process, but there are ways to make it more efficient. One way is to be aware of how you spend your time during the packing process. By being mindful of where you’re spending your time, you can help ensure that your move goes smoothly.
That’s why UNITS Moving and Portable Storage is here to tell you how long it actually takes to pack up for a move and some tips to ensure the process is seamless!
Packing correctly may take some extra time, but it’s worth it in the long run. Depending on how many belongings you have and their size, sorting through your things could take a few hours or days. Usually, a one-bedroom apartment can be packed in two days, whereas packing a standard two-bedroom home might take four to six days in total. For larger homes with three bedrooms or more, expect to spend at least eight days packing altogether.
Save time by being organized from the beginning. Make a packing list of everything you think you’ll need, so you won’t have to stop in the middle and look for forgotten items later. Pack an emergency kit with scissors and different packaging materials, just in case.
You can make packing less daunting by attacking it one room at a time. To beat the clock, start with the biggest room in your house and work down to smaller rooms. By saving the most spacious area for last, you’ll be more likely to finish on time.
If you want your move to go more smoothly, ask family or friends for help. They can do things like packing with you, so there’s less for you to do on your own.
