If you’ve just moved, you’ll need to update your car registration and driver’s license information with the new state. Here are a few tips from UNITS Moving and Portable Storage of Southeast Massachusetts on how to do that:
- Gather your paperwork. When you go to the DMV, you’ll need to bring several documents with you. These include your driver’s license, vehicle registration, proof of insurance, and evidence of residency in your new home state.
- Call your old DMV. If you’re still registered in your old state, you’ll need to call them and let them know you’ve moved. They’ll transfer your records to the new DMV.
- Get a new driver’s license. You’ll need to get a new driver’s license from the DMV in your new state.
- Register your car. You’ll need to go to the DMV and register your car in the new state. This will involve getting new license plates and a registration sticker.
- Update your address on file. Make sure to update your address on your car registration and driver’s license. This will ensure that you receive important mail from the DMV, such as renewal notices.
