Maximize Efficiency in Your Restaurant Kitchen with UNITS® Storage Solutions

There are many reasons a restaurant may need extra storage. A UNITS® storage container may be just what you need for a variety of situations.

Storing Equipment During Renovations

When you make improvements to your restaurant, you need to get your items out of the way. Use a UNITS® storage container to keep everything safe until you’re ready for your big re-opening.

Off-Site Storage for Seasonal Equipment

Holiday and event decorations, little-used utensils used for specialty dishes and other seasonal equipment are great to have, but can clutter up storage rooms. UNITS® offers you long-term storage for these items between events, saving your restaurant space for year-round items.

Expanding Your Storage Capacity

Storage space can be at a premium in some restaurant locations, especially in older buildings. UNITS® can provide you with extra storage for as long as you need it.

Additional Use Cases

UNITS® containers are great for storing items a restaurant can find useful or important but can take up space when not in use, such as catering equipment, disaster supplies, extra tables and chairs, outdoor event supplies, and more.

Keeping Your Restaurant Equipment Safe During Storage

Restaurant equipment storage, particularly long-term storage, is something best done with some prep work. UNITS® lockable steel containers are designed to keep your equipment safe from outside dangers, but sitting a long time in storage – even climate-controlled storage – can take a toll on some items if they’re not stored properly. Here’s some advice on storing your restaurant equipment safely and securely:

  • Different types of outdoor furniture are best stored in different conditions, depending on the material they’re made of. Wood is best stored in a controlled environment and covered with a tarp. Metal should have a rust-neutralizing primer applied and smoothed down, then coated with car wax. Plastic should be kept out of cold where it can get brittle and washed and air dried before storing.
  • Plates and utensils should be washed and dried and wrapped in paper or other protective material to prevent damage. Metal utensils should be stored in containers that minimize moisture.
  • Appliances should be cleaned and dried thoroughly before storage. If you disassemble any appliances before storage, be sure to mark and keep the parts together. Refrigerators or freezers should be unplugged at least a day before storage to defrost them and thoroughly dried out. Secure doors, hinged lids, etc; with zip-ties, cables or rope. Cover appliances with blankets or packing wrap to protect glass and delicate parts.
  • Keep seasonal items towards the back of the container so you don’t have to dig through them to get to items you may need sooner.
  • If you store non-perishable food items, it’s best to do so in an indoor unit. Stored food containers should be unopened. Cans should be kept in cardboard boxes to prevent shifting and glass containers should be wrapped in newspaper or packing wrap to prevent breaking. Don’t store leaking or damaged food containers or expired food.
