UPDATE: Concordia Lutheran Church Helps Hurricane Harvey Victims Using Portable Storage

Soon after Hurricane Harvey struck the gulf coast of Texas, San Antonio based Concordia Lutheran Church began organizing relief efforts for those affected.

UNITS Moving and Portable Storage of San Antonio thanks Concordia for allowing us to contribute to their charity efforts. Part of our company’s mission is to better the communities we serve.

Many small towns were affected by Hurricane Harvey, but they do not get as much attention as the big cities. This causes them to sometimes be in a worse position in terms of recovery and cleanup assistance. From Beaumont to Victoria, TX and in between, Concordia is distributing supplies and water to small communities that have been affected.

Donations are still being accepted every Sunday by Concordia for the foreseeable future. Those interested in donating can help fill the three UNITS portable storage containers that are in Concordia’s parking lot with food, water, and other supplies.

“Our church plans on being down there for a while,” Tristina Volesky, Vice President of Self Storage Operations, said. “There is a lot to clean up, so these are just baby steps to get us there and they’re taking a ton of volunteers. Every week they are sending people.”

Anyone interested in volunteering with Concordia Lutheran Church can sign up on their website. You must be able to pass a background check to be considered.

“I just really appreciate our company being able to help, because this is really cool,” Tristina said.

So far Concordia has received and distributed two whole semi truck shipments worth of water and other supplies and hopes to distribute many more during the coming months. UNITS is also helping by using our warehouse as a drop off destination for national partners. By storing these supplies, Concordia’s operations team can effectively plan distribution routes that best serve impacted communities.

“Concordia is sending teams on a weekly basis to not only help bring supplies, but also be a helping hand to love and serve the people effectively as they rebuild and work alongside of them. It is the least we can do to help and it feels good knowing what they are doing is going to make a big difference. All a part of keeping Texas Strong!” Tristina said.
