Moving is an adventure that provides a plethora of opportunities. One of those opportunities includes getting rid of clutter. But, what exactly qualifies as clutter?

If you’re unsure of what needs to go, no worries, UNITS of Las Vegas is here to help. Here are three tips on how to decide what goes and what stays!

How Often do You Use it

The first sign of whether something should stay or go depends on how often you use the item. For example, clothes you haven’t worn in five years, because they aren’t the right size or are no longer your style should go. But the kitchen utensils you use to cook daily should stay and get packed up for your new home. The items you no longer use should either be trashed, sold, gifted, or donated.

You can skip over this tip when it comes to your home decor and items you ding physically utilize.

Is it Broken

We can often hold on to broken items in the hopes that one day we’ll fix them, but if it’s been months or years since it broke, that probably isn’t going to happen. Any item that fits that description should be tossed or gifted to someone who can fix it. Old electronics often fall into this category. If there’s a phone/electronic recycling program near you, research and see if your broken phone pr tablet still qualifies.

Do You Still Like it

This tip is referring to items such as clothing, furniture, books, movies, etc. When you see it in your home, do you still enjoy looking at it? Is a particular book or movie no longer your cup of tea? Ask yourself these questions. If the answer is no, it’s time to let it go. Depending on the item and its condition will determine if you should donate/sell it or throw it away.
