While everyone’s situation is unique, it’s safe to assume there are some rooms in your home that have become cluttered over the years. If you don’t know where to start, walk around your home, and jot down the spaces that seem overcrowded.

Check your bedrooms, closets, cabinets, and garage. But don’t get overwhelmed by the length of your list! Below you’ll find some useful tips to help you declutter and organize your home.

Where should you begin?

Start with a plan — Begin with a walk-through and figure out which rooms are priority. Also note the materials you might need, like plastic bags and boxes, and how long you think it’ll take to declutter.

Think about money — Ask yourself if there is anything you can sell. Facebook Marketplace, eBay, and Craigslist are just a few places that you can sell your belongings. Donations to Goodwill and other nonprofits groups is another good option.

Make it fun — One way to get through the process is to make it something to enjoy. Invite over some friends for food, drinks, and you can declutter your home together.

Find inspiration — Motivation is key when you begin decluttering your home. The internet is full of blogs and articles to help. They can offer advice and practical steps to regain control of your home.

With these tips, you’ll be sure to declutter your home in time for the holiday season!
