Tips for Updating Your Car Registration and Driver’s License After a Move in Tampa Bay

If you’ve just moved, you’ll need to update your car registration and driver’s license information with the new state. Here are a few tips from UNITS® Moving and Portable Storage of Tampa Bay on how to do that:

1. Gather your paperwork. You’ll need to bring several documents with you when you go to the DMV. These include your driver’s license, car registration, proof of insurance, and proof of residency in the new state.
2. Call your old DMV. If you’re still registered in your old state, you’ll need to call them and let them know you’ve moved. They’ll transfer your records to the new DMV.
3. Get a new driver’s license. You’ll need to get a new driver’s license from the DMV in your new state.
4. Register your car. You’ll need to go to the DMV and register your car in the new state. This will involve getting new license plates and a registration sticker.
