Catching Up With Renee and the San Antonio UNITS Team

The team at UNITS Moving and Portable Storage of San Antonio is always prepared to help our customers in times of need. Whether you’re moving across the country, renovating your home or recovering from a natural disaster, our portable storage experts have seen it all.

We like to check in with the team from time to time and catch up with the people who make portable storage happen. This month, we’re talking to Renee Rios who just joined the team in June. While she isn’t a native of San Antonio, she is making a great effort to explore the community and talk to anyone she can about UNITS.

When you call our warehouse, it’s more than likely you’ll talk to Renee, so get to know her a little better by reading the short interview below. You may even learn how to save a little money on your first month’s rent!

Peter: Hey, Renee! Thanks for taking the time to catch up with me today. It’s September, so that means summer is coming to an end. How have the last couple months been for UNITS Moving and Portable Storage?

Renee: It’s been good! Since I started in June things have been really good.

Peter: Did you all have a lot of business this summer?

Renee: July and August were really busy, but September has slowed down a bit.

Peter: What was the biggest reason people were using portable storage this summer?

Renee: More than anything it was moving. There were a lot of people renovating., but moving was the main thing. A lot of people bought houses and figured out portable storage was the best option for them.

Peter: If a lot of homes are being bought and sold, I think that means the economy is doing pretty good in San Antonio. Is that a fair assumption?

Renee: Oh, yes it is. There are a lot of homes being built in San Antonio!

Peter: Have you had many new commercial clients lately?

Renee: No, not so much. We don’t have too, too many. The majority of our business is residential. I’m looking for more. I’ve been out in the community marketing, going out and meeting people, getting to know San Antonio. I’m not originally from here. We’ve had a couple new companies do business with us and I’m always looking for more!

Peter: What kind of companies are most likely to use portable storage?

Renee: Construction companies, moving companies. I went out and found the moving company, so that’s a good thing.

Peter: Have you met any interesting folks during the last couple months?

Renee: Honestly, I don’t get to meet too many of my clients face to face. I don’t see them really at all. The whole time I’ve been here I’ve only met one client face to face. She and I have a really good relationship. We email back and forth. She loves my positivity, so that’s a good thing for the only client I’ve ever met.

Peter: I know most of the time you deliver the UNIT to the client, but for those who do choose to have the UNIT moved into the warehouse most don’t really come to the warehouse to check on their unit?

Renee: No, not at all. Just the one.

Peter: How do you expect portable storage rentals to change as we get into winter?

Renee: The slowdown has already begun. That’s why I’m always out trying to meet everyone I can. Really anybody. If I’m at the gas station, I’m talking to you. Here’s my flier. Here’s my card. Yes, any place I go I’m talking to everybody.

Peter: That’s awesome! How long have you been with UNITS Moving and Portable Storage?

Renee: I started in June.

Peter: Are you liking it so far?

Renee: Oh, yes. I love it. I really, really do.

Peter: Is it different than other jobs you’ve had in the past?

Renee: It’s different, because I don’t see a lot of people. Me, I’m a people person. I love to talk. That’s partly why I do so much marketing.

Peter: I bet our renters really appreciate working with someone as positive as you.

Renee: Yes, I think they do. I love to see people smile. I’m always smiling all the time.

Peter: Speaking of making people smile, are you running any specials right now?

Renee: Normally no, but if you find one of my cards or fliers you can get $25 off your first month’s rent. Sometimes, if someone needs a portable storage container for more than three or four months I’ll make the last month half off depending on the situation. I like to work with people to make sure they get what they need.

Peter: Are there any events coming up where people can meet you and get a flier?

Renee: There is a jazz festival coming up that I’m going to be at. There’s also a lawn and garden show at the Alamodome. I think there are going to be a lot of people at the jazz festival. I’m going to have my bag with me and I’m going to hand out every flier and every card I have.

Peter: Renee, thank you so much for catching up with me today! It was fun hearing how the summer went and it was fun learning how future renters can save on storage.

Renee: Thanks, Peter. You have a good day.
