Where to Donate Clothes When Moving in San Antonio

There’s no time to realize how much stuff you have (and don’t need) like when you’re moving. You’re packing away all your belongings and come across clothes you haven’t even thought about wearing for who knows how long. For this reason, it’s the perfect time to sort out your clothes and choose what to keep and what to donate. But where to donate? UNITS® Moving and Portable Storage of San Antonio has curated a list of where you can go to donate the clothes you don’t need anymore. They’re going to a great cause!

• Goodwill. Among the most well-known secondhand stores in the country, it’s a great charitable organization to donate your clothes to. When you drop your clothes off at Goodwill, they’re then taken and sold at affordable prices at one of their thousands of retail locations.

• A women’s shelter. This is another great place to donate clothing, especially those that fit women and children. These shelters provide a safe, clean place for women and children to escape from abusive households, and many come with no extra sets of clothes. Consider donating to San Antonio’s Visitation House.

• A homeless shelter. Here’s another option for donating clothes. These shelters don’t just take care of the homeless, either – they provide services for those escaping dangerous situations and the disabled.

• Churches or religious organizations. Many local churches, like the Catholic Charities Archdiocese of San Antonio, work with local charities to provide clothes, food, and other services to those in need of it. Lots of times the churches will host clothing drives to help out families in need. Be sure to call ahead of time to see which churches or other religious organizations are actively taking donations.

• Clothing for veterans. Check out your local veteran clothing pick up, such as the Disabled American Veterans (DAV) San Antonio Pickups. Typically these services schedule a time to pick up donations you leave outside your front door.
