Are you relocating and need to transport your fish tank? There are a few things to think about before you move. UNITS® Moving and Portable Storage of Northeast Ohio can assist you in ensuring that your fish tank arrives in good condition at its new location. Follow these six easy steps:

1. When transporting a fish tank, ensure it’s completely dry before loading it onto the truck. Also, clear any water or foreign particles from the aquarium.

2. Before proceeding, remove all the water from the tank and any furnishings. When the tank is empty, make sure it’s completely dry. This will help to prevent germs from taking hold in the tank.

3. Remove any equipment from the tank before moving it. Unplug all of the tank’s components, including filters and heaters.

4. Cover the tank with a traveling blanket to avoid bumps and scratches.

5. Keep your aquarium in excellent working order. Use a traveling blanket rather than towels or rugs to avoid dropping the tank while transporting it.

6. It’s possible that after the move, you discovered some leaks. Once everything is reconnected and put together, fill the tank with water and test for any fractures in the glass.

Follow these six steps to safely move your fish tank, and you’ll be good to go! Check out the UNITS® Moving and Portable Storage of Northeast Ohio blog for more moving tips and advice.
