One of the most exciting things about moving to Colonial Homes is that it adjoins the Atlanta Beltline, an ambitious 22-mile project that is being developed along a former train corridor that circles Atlanta. Some of it has already been turned into a biking and hiking trail, along with other recreational and entertainment events, but the full project will create more affordable housing, transportation and business opportunities for the neighborhoods that border it. 

In Colonial homes, the Beltline goes through Tanyard Park, an urban forest that is on the southwestern side of Colonial Homes, where it then veers off to the northeast.
